Training Agenda

K3s

K3s is a lightweight, CNCF-certified Kubernetes distribution built for edge computing, IoT, CI environments, and resource-constrained servers. It packages Kubernetes into a single binary under 100MB with a minimal footprint — no etcd by default, no legacy APIs, no cloud-provider integrations you don't need. This training covers installing, operating, and extending K3s in production environments.

1 day On-site, remote, or hybrid Up to 20 participants German or English
What We Cover
Kubernetes that fits anywhere
Day 1

Installation, Architecture & Operations

  • K3s architecture: Embedded SQLite vs external etcd vs PostgreSQL — choosing the right datastore
  • Single-node and HA multi-server cluster installation: Step-by-step cluster setup with and without high availability
  • Embedded components: Traefik ingress, local-path provisioner, Flannel CNI — what's included and why
  • kubeconfig setup and kubectl usage with K3s: Connecting tools to your K3s cluster locally and remotely
  • Air-gapped install: Preparing images and binaries for offline environments
  • Replacing default components: Nginx instead of Traefik, Calico instead of Flannel — when and how to swap
  • K3s agent configuration for edge nodes: Registering remote nodes with server-defined labels and taints
  • Upgrades with the K3s auto-upgrade controller: Safe, automated Kubernetes version upgrades in place
Learning Outcomes
